CASA CHAMELEON
Voted one of the "101 Best Hotels in the World" by Conde Nast Publications' TATLER Travel guide.
My husband and I recently stayed at Casa Chameleon. We have traveled all over the world and this is one of the best places we have stayed. I was told the owners are relatively new and that the property had recently been remodeled and extensive landscaping done. They must have put their heart and soul into it because no stone was left unturned, no detail missed. The atmosphere is so relaxing, beautiful, peaceful, and romantic. There are not enough positive adjectives in the English language to describe Casa Chameleon and its staff.
We were greeted at the gate by the manager with cool damp towels and a friendly warm smile. It was so refreshing! I knew we were in for a treat. Yua (manager) was there for our every need. He helped to arrange surf lessons, fishing, canopy tour and horseback riding for us. The morning we left it was pouring rain (highly unusual). He knew we were leaving about 7am. At 6:55 Yua knocked on the door with 2 large umbrellas for us.
Rob, Casa Chameleon's private chef, created some of the most culinary pleasing meals I have ever had. He made everything according to our tastes and needs and it was never a problem. He was always happy and ready to please. He would go to the farmers market and pick up fresh ingredients for every meal.
The villa was breathtaking with views overlooking the ocean where we could sit on the veranda in the comfortable chairs and read or recline in the hammock for a nap, or if we got to warm step into our own private, refreshing plunge pool. The most difficult question we faced was whether or not to sit and enjoy the tranquility of our private villa, or go relax at the main pool which was just as stunning and relaxing.
We loved the little town of Santa Theresa and were surprised how many good restaurants there were for the town’s size.
Santa Theresa is a very health conscience as a community. Most of the restaurants used organic ingredients. It is a very fun, laid back surfer town.
The beaches are large and beautiful (Victoria Secret was shooting their catalog there the next week) and very quiet. The surf was great for boogie-boarding and I even tried surfing.
If you are looking for wild crowded beaches and shopping for the latest fashions go to Daytona Beach or South Beach in March because this isn't it.
If you are looking for peace and quiet, romance, tranquility, heaven on earth you have found it at Casa Chameleon. We can't wait to go back. We have talked about bringing two other couples back with us and renting the whole hotel.
